OK ... so I am late to this party ... I didn't have time to read a few of the posts I saw on my Facebook wall until right now. But since this is a fabulous idea, and the focus on my favorite pet blog, Scratchings and Sniffings, post today, I wanted to at least post something. Per the Be The Change for Animals website, this day, which occurs 4 times per year in January, April, July, and October, is an opportunity for pet bloggers (and others like me who post about pets) to talk about their favorite pet cause and have the opportunity to gain cross-exposure via Be The Change badges etc. Learn more about it from the Be The Change for Animals post, and from my friend, Yvonne's post on Scratchings and Sniffings today. As for me, my favorite animal cause/non-profit is being created by a friend of mine right now. While it is still under development, so I can't share complete details yet, she is in the process of creating a non-profit that will provide pet food for companion animals of people suffering economic hardships so they do not have to surrender their pets to shelters. This organization will offer a much-needed service here in Monroe County where I live, especially since our unemployment is still way too high. While I have been fortunate enough to be able to keep my beloved dogs in both food and medicine (and of course treats) while I have been out of work, many others have not. I can't imagine having to give up my precious "kids" - especially due to a situation I know is temporary. Anyway, if you are a pet lover and are reading this, there is a list on the Be The Change post to get you to some other great pet bloggers who used today to post about their favorite cause. P.S. If you are interested in potentially helping with the new non-profit I mentioned, just let me know and I will connect you to my friend when she is ready.
